Following last weeks game we were a much improved 'team'. With both Leciester Teams being had opponents it was going to be a major challenge. We conceded the first goal in dubious circumstances, however this balanced shortly after with a fine shot by leicester which just stopped where it landed and diddnt roll in, their second goal was an excellent goal and was unstoppable, however we fought back hard with Fern taking an excellent opportunity and opening our scoreline, soon to be followed by Abigail and by half time were were 2 - 2. Second half we played well however Leicester caught us on the break and scored two giving us a difficult challenge, we battled but couldnt get more goals , although we had a number of opportunties the Leicester defence were determined we would not succeed, and in the last few minutes scored a 5th. However, we played much better this week, with Sarah keeping out a number of attempts to give a higher scoreline. Well done everyone.

Cant really say too much about the game, on the day Leicester played well, and we werent quite playing as well as we do as a team, was a long break between games, and everyone played well as individuals but the team spriit was missing which reflected in the scoreline.

2nd Dec - Hinckley United (A) 3 - 3
What a game!! we arrived at a very wet Hinckley United ground, which was only just playable, but we were disadvantaged tso as we only had 6 players. We rose to the occasion with our 'magic gloves' to keep our hands warm and managed to score two goals - unfortunately in our own net!!!!. Half time we were a little despondent but had everything to play for, Sarah had done a great job of keeping a number of really good attempts out. Second half we were mighty Thistles, and played brilliantly and worked hard as a team, with Fern opening our score sheet with a fantastic goal, in such weather conditions, managing to score two (with Hinckley scoring an own goal too), we thought we were on for a much earned win, but Hinckley battled back to get one more in the last quarter of the game. A great performance by all.

18th Nov - Hinckley United (H) - 1 - 2 (L)

A disapointing result with Hinckley scoring the winning goal with the last minute kick of the ball - but thats football.
It rained throughout the game and it was very cold but everyone played well, , we had some chances but the ball didnt bounce in the goal area, but this affected both teams, Sarah made some fantastic saves and was certainly the muddiest on the pitch - bit challenge for Sue to get that clean. Dani and Taylor worked really hard in defence to keep the ball away from goal, some nice passing and teamwork in the middle, the weather was horrible but we played played well, the team are working well together and should be very proud of themselves today.

11th Nov - Asfordby Gems (A) - 0 -0 (D)
It was always going to be a tough game, Asfordby just above us in the league, away, with no subs, but we battled throughout. Sarah was excellent (as usual) in goal, with Dani and Taylor awesome in defence, (and I expect Taylor will have bruised ribs from being elbowed most of the game), Amy and Chloe in Mid field, with Kelly and Fern pairing at the front all played superbly. We had our chances, but so did Asfordby, notably with Fern having a run and a shot which was tipped over the top by their keeper, and Chloe making a brilliant run just after our goal, right through to their goal, again to be denied by their keeper. Kelly too worked hard and had some chances but alas the goals werent ours. Red faced and tired we came home with a well deserved point.

4th Nov - Asfordby Diamonds (H) 0 - 2 (L)
Bit of a slow first half - weddington didnt really get into the game, Asfordby were much more clinical in their passing and we were lucky to be 0 - 0 at half time. Second half was totally different, we went out determined to get something from the game, and worked very hard, Unfortunately Asfordby got a goal, and despite our chances and efforts we just couldnt get one back, with Asfordby getting a second in the last 5 minutes.
Definitely a game of two different halves

21 Oct - Westfield Wanderers (A) 2 - 0 W)
An excellent game with some good football being played, and finally a win which has alluded us since our first game. Very positive play throughout against a determined Westfield Wanderers who were a player short, unfortunately that happens, and we have lost games last season in similar cirumstances when we had the advantage of the extra player. Our there was some great defending and brilliant passing, finally girls looking up before they passed the ball - it certainly helps!!!. Some good runs by Chloe and Dani from the back, and some good teamwork, the two goals scored by Kate but also some good changes for Chloe, Kelly and Fern, however the Westfield keeper worked hard to ensure most kept out of the net.

14th Oct - (H) Whitwick Strikers 2 -2 (D)
Our fiirst meeting with Whitwick a new club to the league at our age group, we played well during the first half with Fern being unlucky with a couple of chances, and Abigail being denied as the keeper kept the ball on the line, however she made up for this by finishing in the back of the net just before helf time. The second half saw many more chances although Whitwick were battling hard , they equalised fairly early in the second half and went ahead with a second. Our second goal was an own goal which went in from an excellent corner by Fern. Excellent team work during the game and some unlucky shots which missed the target, but we can celebrate our first point for 5 games,

7th Oct - Rugby Town (H) 0 - 2 (L)
Had to move pitch to the college, which was slighter bigger than we are used to, unfortunately we conceeded the first goal, then struggled to get back, and then conceeded the second, however, in the last 20 mintues we played exceptionally well with some excellent football, Sarah made some good saves which kept the scoreline down, and we had our chances but just couldnt get the ball in the net. - something to focus on in training

30 Sept (A) - Loughborough Foxes 1 - 0 (L)
A disappointing game, being 1-0 down at half time, when we had ample chances and should be been at least 4-0 up, Unfortunately the goal given against us did not cross the line, and as we were unable to equalise during the second half again with a number of chances we came away feeling cheated and very dejected. Some good football, and nice team work, it just wasnt our day.

23rd Sept - H LC Stars 2 -3 (L)
What an excellent game, the teams were really well matched, and we played some great football, and the game stayed at 0 - 0 for what seemed eternity, this deadlock was broken by Abigail in her debut game, We held it for a while but our lead only made the Stars more determined to break us and they equalised then scored two more, We could have conceeded more, however with a solid defence in Dani, Taylor and Amy, and some excellent saves by Sarah we kept it at the 3. Midfield too were strong with Chloe, Kelly, Fern, and Lizzy all playing superbly and we were rewarded in the last 10 minutes a most excellent goal from Kate from just inside the halfway line brought us our second, it was a shame we couldnt get a third, but thats football, no doubt it will be a had fixture on the return matc.h.

A difficult match, as it always is when we meet the either of the Leicester City teams, excellent performance by Weddington Thistle unfortunately the scoreline does not show this. We worked really hard however Leicester to their credit were as strong and as consistent as ever.

2nd Sept - Humberstone Rangers (A) 0 - 1 (W)

What an excellent start to the new season, a 1 - 0 win. Some great football and teamwork with our goal being scored by Kelly Lobley. However we also had some other chances with at least two other attempts at goal coming off the post. Humberstone were determined opponents who battled had throughout the game.
