27 Jan - Allexton & New Parks (H) 2 - 1 (W)

We knew this was going to be a tough. Allexton had won the two games we had played earlier in the season. The only team we have lost against.

The girls started very well closing Allexton down when they had the ball and playing some good football when we had the chance. Chelsea and Ellie kept the Allexton forwards at bay and the only chances they had were long rang shots that didn’t trouble Becky in goal. The midfield girls Lucie Zoe and Charlotte worked up and down the field and Shantelle worked hard as a lone striker chasing everything that came her way. Zoe used her strength to get past a few defenders and grab the first goal with a fantastic strike from the edge of the box. The weddy girls continued to play excellent football, passing the ball well to one another and tackling when needed. Zoe scored a second goal with some good work from Chelsea from a throw-in. Lucie and Shantelle had a rest while Chloe and Lauren joined in with the battle. Half time score 2-0 and a well deserved rest for both teams.

Allexton came out second half and tried everything to break us down. We worked harder than ever both teams played some fantastic football. A ball came to Chelsea she tried to clear it but it came back of an Allexton player to Ellie who also tried to clear it, it came back again through both defenders an Allexton play ran through and scored. Our heads went down and for a little while we lost our shape. Allexton piled on the pressure, Becky made a great save to stop them from pulling level. We were defending with everybody back. Lucie tackled on the half way line ran with the ball and had a fine shot that just went over the cross bar, we seemed to get our heads back after that and played good football to the final whistle.

Both teams played very well and what a fantastic show of girls football.

Weddy girls you did us proud. We are still in with a chance of winning the league and with a performance like that you know you can do it.

6th Jan - Ibstock Youth (H) 5 - 0 (W)

The girls started well passing the ball around. Ibstock challenged for every ball and made us work hard. Their goalkeeper kicked the ball out straight to charlotte who kicked it first time like a thunderbolt, It hit the back of the net, great goal for us to go 1-0 up. We had chance after chance, Zoe got herself a hatrick to make it 4-0. Zoe took some fantastic corners which we were a little scared of but Chelsea got her head onto one and were very unlucky to see it go over the bar. Ibstock continued to battle throughout the game and had some very good chances. Right at the end there was a scramble in Ibstocks box and Ellie got her first goal of the season, coming up from defence. Another great win for the Weddy girls.

2nd Dec - Allexton & New Parks (H) 4 - 1 (L)

The girls started this game really out off sorts the weather was awful, the fluent passing of previous games seemed to have disappeared. The Aces took control very early in the first half we worked hard to try and get into the game but before we knew it we were three nil down. Zoe battled well in the middle she managed to strike the ball well from outside the box and score a fine goal. Our luck seemed to change from then on. I switched a few players around and Chelsea and Zoe went into defence Becky went in goal only so she could put more clothes on, Ellie went into the centre of midfield Lucie came on while Chloe had a rest and we really got going. They all worked and tackled. We had a few good chances Charlotte shooting wide and Ellie high, Lauren had a couple of scrambles in the box but it wasn’t our lucky day. We were very unlucky not to be level. The Aces battled throughout and didn’t give our girls a minute on the ball. They grabbed another goal to make it 4-1 we battled on to the end but this one wasn’t to be ours. Well tried girls.

11th Nov - Ibstock Youth (A) - 0 - 6 (W)

The girls started well against an improved Ibstock team.

The Goalkeeper made some excellent saves in the first ten minutes to keep Ibstock in the game. Zoe had a shot from inside the box and Lauren just made sure it crossed the line to grab her first goal of the season. All the girls worked hard Ellie and Becky kept it tidy at the back. Zoe got herself a goal with some neat footwork in the box. Lauren got her second to make it 3-0 from a Zoe corner. Charlotte got her first goal of the season, with some good work by Lucie running in the box her shot came of the post and Charlotte slotted it home.

I switched players at half time. Chelsea came out of goal and Becky went in. Ibstock made us work very hard and chased every ball, they had some good chances themselves. Weddy played some excellent football. Zoe scored with another great run and strike. Ellie was outstanding clearing every through ball with perfection. Lucie, Charlotte Zoe and Chloe worked up and down the pitch passing tackling and running with the ball. Chelsea grabbed herself a goal when she launched the ball into the penalty area all the keeper could do was watch it fly into the top left hand corner, fantastic strike.

Birstall United Belles (H) - 2 - 1 (W)

We started this match with one sub that wasn’t feeling well. The seven that started Chelsea in goal, Becky and Ellie in defence Zoe Lucie and Chloe in midfield and Charlotte up front. The first half was very well matched with chances for both sides. All girls worked very hard and a well earned breather was needed at half time. Score nil nil.

Lauren came on for Chloe and Chelsea switched with Becky. Charlotte dropped into midfield and Lauren went up front. Ellie worked hard to keep their striker at bay. Zoe won the ball in the middle passed it to lucie who made a good run down the right she passed it to Lauren who battled with the Birstall defenders the ball came lose and Lucie slotted it home. Minutes later Birstall scored on the break when an attack by Chelsea was intercepted and caught us napping. Each and every one of them worked their socks off Charlotte made some excellent runs up and down the left with great crosses into the box. Zoe made a tackle and carried the ball forward and scored a fantastic individual goal. We needed to defend well for the last ten minutes Becky made some good saves Ellie and Chelsea stayed put in defence with help from Zoe Lucie and Charlotte. Lauren came off and Chloe came back on. They all battled right to the end and deserved a super win.

Well done girls you did yourselves proud with a well earned three points and back to the top of the league.

The ref chose the girl of the game and he gave it to the whole team.
