NEWSLETTER – OCTOBER 2007
Following last months newsletter the older children are now training as a team and are developing their match play very well. Before we know it these children will be participating in their first real match for Weddington Thistle Football Club.
TRAINING VENUE
We are currently looking at venues as we will be moving training indoors during the winter months, I would like to leave this as long as possible because I feel it is better for the children to be outdoors.
CHRISTMAS DISCO
All the children are invited to a Christmas disco, due to this time of year being such a hectic time for everyone; the date has been set for Friday 28th December at the Old Edwardians Rugby Club. Please keep this date free if possible, as it will be a great opportunity for the children to get together and have fun away from football, it also gives all the parents and coaches a chance to get together and have a drink or two. Further information will follow.
RAFFLE TICKETS
I will shortly be handing out raffle tickets, I am hoping we can all make a big effort in selling as many as we possibly can as I am hoping we can raise enough money to purchase match shorts and sock for all our children. We are currently looking for sponsorship that should cover the cost of the shirts to complete our kit.
SPONSORSHIP
We are awaiting a response from a possible sponsor, but if anyone knows of a business or company, who would be interested in sponsoring the children, please let me know.
WEBSITE
Our website is now fully functional and I can now update and add photos, Tom is currently seeking permission from all parents for their child allowing photos to be taken. No children will be named on the website as child protection does not allow this. If you have any concerns please speak to me.
All the coaches would like to thank all the parents for your continued support.

NEWSLETTER – SEPTEMBER 2007
|
|
INTRODUCTION
This is the first of our newsletters to keep everyone up-to-date with what we are doing and also planning for the future.
I would like to start by thanking all the children for smiling, listening, participating and improving in the short time that we have been together, the improvement in each child is obvious for everyone to see. Secondly, I would like to thank you for making such an effort to get your child to the pitch for 9.00am on a Saturday morning.
I am happy to change the time to 9.30am to 10.30am to make it easier for everyone to arrive on time and will go with the majority.
SUBS
Many parents have expressed an interest in paying subs on a weekly basis rather than monthly. I am more than happy with this and ask you to decide on £2.50 weekly or £10.00 monthly. We will collect this information along with your preferred start time.
FUTURE
We feel that this is the time to start dividing some of the players. The older children in this group will start playing in a league this time next year and tournaments 3 months earlier, therefore, to prepare for this and to play friendly matches we feel the time is right for these players to train separately from the younger children.
Andrew Ruston will be coaching this group focusing on positions, pitches and a lot of game play. I have got our first friendly match lined up for when we feel we are ready. This split is purely done on the age of the children, if you feel your child is not this age but ready to join this group please come and have a word with me, I will also be looking to add other children to this group from the players that we have.
The players who are this age and form this group are shown on the reverse of this letter and will take effect from Saturday 15th September 2007.
If you have any queries or concerns please come and have a word and if you know any other children who would like to join please bring them along.
