9th November 2008 - Bedworth United (A) 2 - 6 (W)

Having thought we had played our only game of the season on the small Bedworth pitch, we found ourselve here again. With strong winds and rain spells the boys battled and tried to play football, playing the last 15 minutes in conditions that floodlight may have helped.

2nd November 2008 - Windmill Cougars (A) 0 - 4 (W)

On a wet, cold and windy day the boys were made to work hard by a very hardworking Windmill side.

With a slender 1 goal advantage at half time the next goal was going to be vital, fortunately it went to Weddington, and from then on the boys didn't look back.

On a day that hard work would prove to be as important to the football played, the boys showed how much they are developing as individuals as well as a team.

19th October 2008 - Chetwynd Tigers (H) 6 - 0 (W)

Following a tough game the day before the boys put in another solid performance to gain a comfortable win.

18th October 2008 - Four Oaks (A) 0 - 5 (W)

Today saw the boys make their start in the Tamworth cup with only 11 available players. A good result against a big and strong team who competed very well.

A good start of hopefully a long cup run.

12th October 2008 - St Nics (A) 0 - 7 (W)

Another away game and another solid performance. After the first couple of goals the result was never in doubt but credit to St Nics for battling to the end.

Well done boys.

Due to some water in a goalmouth this game was called off.

28th September 2008 - Bedworth Eagles (A) 0 - 4 (W)

Having settled well to a full size pitch, it was a shock to see a 3/4 pitch with smaller goals than what was understood at this age. With no room to pass the ball the game became a battle with goalkeepers kicking well into the other half of the pitch, not quite what the boys have been training for. The boys had to revert to playing route 1 football to break a determined Eagles side down. A good win and back to a bigger pitch for the next game.

21st September 2008 - Nuneaton Boro (A) 0 - 17 (W)

Not a lot to say from such a 1-sided game.

Most of the players got on the scoresheet including our keeper.

Domino's Pizza Man of the Match - Brandan for his disciplined performance at the back and resisting the tempation to charge forward in search of a goal for himself.

14th September 2008 - Chetwynd Sharks (A) 1 - 2 (W)

First game of the season with last seasons champions hosting last season runners up.

After a nervous start by both sides the game soon developed into a tough battle that everyone was expecting. Chetwynd kicking down the slope in the first half were starting to control the game with Weddington struggling to clear their lines but not allowing any clear cut opportunities for Cetwynd to get any shots on goal.

The best chance of the first half fell to 3 Weddington players but none were able to get their shot away inside the box.

Half time = 0 - 0

The second half saw Weddington start to take control of the game kicking down the slope. Following a midfield battle Weddington finally broke the deadlock with Kienan poking the ball home from six yards.

Weddington doubled their lead following a good run and cool finish from Brandon.

With Weddington looking to take all 3 points, Chetwynd had other ideas and with 3 minutes to play they managed to pull a goal back. It turned out to be a consolation goal but certainly made the last couple of minutes a nervous time for the Weddington parents.

On the final whistle the game ended to cheers of relief. Both sides playing their first league match at 11-aside and they looked like they had been playing it for years. A thoroughly enjoyable game to watch from 2 very good sides, well done to everyone.
