What a difference a week makes, this was a far better team against Whitwick. Unfortunately with both Lauren and Fern missing we had only the bare 9, but certainly showed our best performance so far this season. Everything we had tried at training was put into practise and at the end of the first half despite some excellent runs by Kate, Kelly and Abigail it was still nil - nil although we did feel cheated with an intentional back pass which was allowed by the referee. We came out second half maintaining our pressure, with Dani and Chloe pairing well in the middle/defensive roles, whilst Taylor and Amy were playing brilliantly in straight defensive positions. Sarah made some excellent saves, particularly a dodgy penalty decision which was balanced by a Sarah save. with only 5 mins to go we had still kept 0 - 0, however they had a couple of lucky breack which resulted in two goals in the final 5 mins. However the performance of the team was brilliant. Girl of the game was Chloe Tedds - well done.

Not quite sure what happened today, but we did not play as we had been playing the last few weeks, we tried changing some player positions but it didnt really work. Rugby were well organised and prepared and made the most of the game. Unfortunately as the goals went in our heads went down which I think contributed to the final scorline. Girl of the Game was Dani Peacock who, despite everthing, battled 100% throughout the whole game, well done.

LEICESTER CITY LADIES 9 v WEDDINGTON THISTLE 0
Think its best to put this one down to experience, Leicester were clinical and well trained and we were just outclassed. Very quickly in the game we knew it was going to be difficult. We didn’t really seem to be in the game, and were allowing Leicester to pass while we watched and as they do, they took every chance to score and at half time we were 4 nil down. We upped our pace of game in the second half defending better but we left it until the last 10 minutes to show that we had some attacking spirit, and challenged their defence a number of times, but couldnt score. However, looking at the overall there were some definite positives to take we played hard and did not shy away from a tackle, we struggled a little with injuries and knocks but didn’t give up. Special mentions for Rhian who played her first ever league game, not looking out of place in midfield, for Kate who gave 100% throughout the entire 60 mins, Fern who was strong in defence and of course Sarah without whom we could have easily conceded 10+, also Dani who battled constantly, we know you want to score but please can it be in the opponents net not our own!! A brilliant team effort - we’ll be ready for the return match.

HUMBERSTONE RANGERS 1 – WEDDINGTON THISTLE 1
Our first game of the new season at 9 v 9, with offside, and once again we travelled to Humberstone. The team settled quite quickly really appearing to enjoy the size of pitch, using all the space. It appeared that we dominated the game but just could not get the goals, we managed to get ahead at 1- 0 but Humberstone without any subs just kept battling on and managed to break through our defence and score, and unfortunately we were unable to net another goal. There were a couple of moments in the last 10 minutes when we looked a little tired and it looked like Humberstone would make the the most of this but we held them to the draw. Well done everyone in our first game at this level.
Girl of the Game: Kate Griffiths
